It has been a long way since MediaLib's May 2k debut...
This project, once a reverse engineering of ADC's .cat catalog format with crippled GUI and no functionnality, has undertook a progressive but tremendous transformation to become now a truly user-oriented piece of software. Stability & performance have increased tenfolds and now compare to those of CD cataloging industry standards.
But the MediaLib spirit has never ever been so strong:
classification, because for true media collectors, cataloging media files is but a mean to organize them
open source, because OS software never dies & is the only way to be compatible with several proprietary formats
multi platform, because people use every one of them
user-oriented... well, this one has been given a big boost lately;)
A few others are implied by the commitment to create end user quality software, like stability, performance & prettiness. Project contributors have got one more: to have fun doing the work.
MediaLibrary is not only ideas though, it's people as well. Developers, bug reporters & early end users have put a great deal of energy in bringing this application to the masses. Now you at least, dear reader, are taking part in this great movement as a member of the MediaLibrary community.
We hope you will find this piece of software useful. Have fun.
[The ML Team.] Cataloging stuff is good. Just don't forget to watch it.
